PERSONALISED

PERSONAL ASTHMA ACTION PLAN

Together with the pediatrician, asthma nurse or GP, children set up their personal asthma action plan in the mobile application. This way they can gain more personal advises based on the measurement result.

FEEDBACK

'ASTHMA SCORE' IN THE MORNING

The result of the measurement is communicated as an overal 'asthma score' for that night, together with a colour. The colours are based on the colours of a traffic light: Green is used for good symptom controle and orange means children should and parents should intervene in order to prevent an attack (red zone).

The videos show the UI of an eight year old girl, called Charlie, for both the green and the orange zone.

The sidekick will ask the children on a regular base how they are feeling. By stretching the smile of the monkey, they can indicate that they are doing fine. By squeezing the monkey on the other hand, they indicate that they are experiencing asthmatic symptoms. Their ninja-sidekick will now ask them to reflect on triggers that might have caused these symptoms. Finally the ninja gives them an advise based on the indicated triggers.

The upper video shows  the UI of a nine year old boy called Max, who is feeling 'Bananas' today. The video beneath show the UI of an eight year old girl called Charlie that suffers from airborne allergies today.

ENGAGING FOR CHILDREN

The application also reminds children of scheduled physical activities, such as gym class or a sports training (of course only for children with exercise induced asthma).

The ninja sidekick is also there to remind children of their daily preventive medicines.

HISTORY OVERVIEW

REFLECT & COMMUNICATE TO DOCTOR

Children and parents can consult an overview of the measurement results of the past month. This they can use to reflect on patterns in symptoms and triggers, but also to communicate to the caregiver. In this cay children can tell the doctor in their own words how the asthma has been evolving, it opens doors to better two-way communication and shared decision making.

Parents have a separate profile in the app. Their dashboard resembles the history overview for children. Moreover they are mostly informed via push notifications.

REWARDS

BUBBLE

The app rewards continued use with bits of air, gathered in a big chewing gum-like air bubble. The monkey blows the bubble and keeps children informed on how much more monitored nights are required for the bubble to pop.

A popped bubble can be linked to a reward, based on agreement between children and parents or children and the doctor.

The Video shows how the bubble of Charlie, an eight year old girl with asthma pops.
