EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN APPROACH
In order to develop a working demonstrator,
multiple experimental trials were set up. An iterative process of extensive prototyping, testing and redesigning was completed.
FITTING
TIGHT YET COMFORTABLE
In order to create the pattern for the smart monitoring shirt multiple models were created and fitted by children.

sEMG TECHNOLOGY
PROMISSING RESULTS
Due to iterative prototyping a working demonstrator was created. This demonstrator shows promising results to embed high-end sEMG technology in an undershirt in order to evaluate airflow limitation during sleep.

The first sleeping experiments suggests that it should be possible to obtain enough qualitative data during one night to calculate a average measure for dyspnea during that night.

TOTAL DESIGN SOLUTION
USABILITY OF ALL COMPONENTS
Not only for the development of the shirt, but also for the development of the other hardware components, prototypes were developed and tested.

AMPLIFIER
POSITION AND COMFORT
In order to determine the most comfortable location for the amplifier, several test were done. Here children decides what was comfortable.
